The Community Assistance Program aims to align flood mitigation goals at the State level for communities involved in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The Program collaborates with floodplain managers in each city and county, ensuring NFIP compliance. They offer training in floodplain management, assist in ordinance development and review, conduct compliance inspections, and provide information on flood hazards to promote effective flood management.

NFIP Communities in Nevada

Nevada presently has 35 participating communities in the NFIP. Among these, nine communities—Carson City, Clark County, Douglas County, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite, North Las Vegas, Storey County, and Washoe County—have secured flood insurance premium reductions for their residents via FEMA's Community Rating System.
